With our range of traditional cast iron firebacks, there is something to fit the smaller fireplace opening through to the larger inglenook.
Most of the firebacks are copies of authentic originals, some of which date back to the seventeenth century, and are ideal for those trying to maintain the historical charm of an old inglenook.
Sizes range from 405mm (16") wide to the 1065mm (42") wide 'Large Royal Oak' fireback, probaby the largest fireback now available within the UK.
The thickness of our firebacks vary from 1/2" to 2" according to size. All firebacks are painted in black. To install simply lean the firebacks against the rear of the fireplace. Some firebacks are still hand moulded and cast in much the same way as they have been for generations. Apart from the aesthetic value, firebacks prevent scorching of the rear brickwork and help to radiate heat - a point worth remembering when installing a gas log or coal effect fire as they are equally effective with this type of appliance as with the traditional log or coal fire.
Please note that the larger firebacks are particularly heavy, therefore in the interests of Health & Safety we recommend 2/3 people are used to lift or move them.
